Trump: The New -Ism?

Donald Trump’s peculiar statements have been the symbol of his campaign. The Republican presidential candidate and business magnate has been saying provocative comments about the American society, women and ethnic and religious minorities for years. Trump might have proven himself to be worthy of being followed on Twitter, though more for amusement, but he’s certainly controversial. Trump is flamboyant by nature and has made some rather shocking statements over the years, statements that could simply be referred to, now, as “Trumpisms.”

In November 2015, he came under fire for his pompous campaign rhetoric where he ridiculed a disabled newspaper reporter during an assembly in South Carolina. Serge Kovaleski has a congenital joint condition affecting his arm’s movements. Trump later denied ridiculing the reporter.

He also once suggested in a Tweet he posted on his Twitter account that Katy Perry “must have been drunk when she married Russell Brand.”

Brand responded to Trump’s Tweet saying “are you drunk when you write these tweets? Or does that foam you spray on your bald head make you high?”

In early December 2015, he called for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US until the representatives of the country can understand what’s happening. This was in response to the shooting incident in San Bernardino by 2 Muslims. The proposal incited criticism from most contenders in both parties, but Trump said it was needed to protect the country.

Trump also stated that “police in London are afraid for their own their lives” as some parts of the city have become extremely radicalized. His statement was condemned by Prime Minister David Cameron. According to the Prime Minister, his comments were “divisive and unhelpful.”

Trump has claimed that Charlie Hebdo’s victims would have had a higher chance of defending themselves if they had a gun.

The Republican presidential candidate has also shared his fatherly advice and views on the relationship between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Trump posted, “Everyone knows I am right that Robert Pattinson should dump Kristen Stewart. In a couple of years, he will thank me. Be smart, Robert.”

He also said that “All of the women on The Apprentice flirted with me – consciously or unconsciously. That’s to be expected.”

During the first GOP debate, Trump said some ridiculous things as well.

One of these is,What I say is what I say. And honestly, Megyn if you don’t like it, I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you although I could probably not be based on the way you have treated me, but I wouldn’t do that.”

Another statement he made was, “I think the big problem that this country has is being politically correct. I’ve been challenged by so many people, and I don’t frankly have time for total political correctness, and to be honest with you, this country doesn’t have time either.”

He also said that, “With Hillary Clinton, I said be at my wedding and she came to my wedding.” He gave Hillary money and so, she was obliged to watch his marriage.
